Learn and practise useful English language for everyday situations with the BBC. Your weekly instruction manual for saying or doing something in English is published every Wednesday. Each programme is six minutes long and contains examples and explanations to help you improve your knowledge of the English language across a wide range of topics.
BBC Radio's 6 Minute English Podcast is great for weekly doses of useful English for practical situations. It is one of many podcasts from the BBC.
Apple recently released a new section of the wildly popular iTunes Store available through their iTunes software. This new section is called iTunes U, and collects podcasts from numerous universities and colleges to make them available for free download to your iPod or other mp3 player, mobile/cell phone, etc.
One of the sub-sections of iTunes U is specifically for languages and language education (you need iTunes for this link to work).
Currently there are 60 podcasts (probably more by the time you read this) available regarding both learning foreign languages as well as general topics regarding language in general. Many of these podcasts are called OpenCourseWare, considered Open Learning materials released in the Public Domain. This means they can be used freely by teachers and educators without worries about copyright issues - a big plus! Be sure to look at the license for each podcast to make sure of the licensing.
EnglishPod BETA was just released from Praxis Language and adds a fifth element to their current line of foreign language learning podcasts, ChinesePod, FrenchPod, ItalianPod and SpanishPod.
The Praxis Language podcast line offers a content-driven, social-based and software-enhanced Web platform for learning foreign languages. Recently they have been working hard to release mobile language learning features for PDAs, smart phones, etc. EnglishPod reflects the latest in their endeavors to bring these features to the public.
Praxis Language's podcasts and community are open to users for free. Subscriptions to gain access to additional materials and instruction start at $5 USD/month.
ESLPod.com is run by a volunteer team of experienced English as a Second Language professors with over 30 years of high school, adult, and university ESL teaching experience.

On BreakingNewsEnglish.com you can find ready-to-use lessons for English as a Second Language teachers and English as a Foreign Language teachers. It goes without saying that these lessons are equally well suited for learners of English.
Each week you can find several new lessons at two different levels. All lessons are based on stories currently in the news. The lessons are downloadable in Word.doc and PDF formats. Just Vocabulary is an English vocabulary audio podcast that introduces words from the GRE, SAT and TOEFL lists. The podcast has been going strong since 2005, which is more than most podcasts can claim.
Just Vocabulary introduces two words per episode and explains them in detail including antonyms, synonyms and example sentences. There are literally hundreds of episodes to choose from, providing listeners with hours and hours of content and hundreds of vocabulary terms. It's really quite impressive.
Of course, it's free to subscribe and there is also a newsletter, study quizzes/games and a map of where listeners tune in from. Also available for a nominal price are very useful study guides for iPod.
These audio lessons aren't just for people learning English! With words like quixotic, immure, abstemious and surreptitious, these lessons are incredibly useful for native English speakers preparing for SAT, GRE, college level English courses or just interested in expanding their vocabulary.
